Lipstick Wishlist + OOTD

Hey! Today I bring you a lipstick wishlist and an outfit of the day.

Lipstick Wishlist

To be completely honest with you, this was a really hard list to make because I initially had 27 lipsticks in my list but I had to reduce it to around five, so you lipstick addicts can feel my pain.
I will have to admit that I am still not that much of a lipstick addict for two simple reasons: it requires quite a lot of maintenance and I'm really clumsy and all so I'm constantly scared that I will smudge it and make a mess out of it during the day.
Lately I have been trying to get into the lipstick world a bit more just because a lipstick makes a huge difference in a person's face, specially if, like me, you tend to do the same eye makeup every day.

Going through all the lip products in my list, I actually found out that some of them were discontinued, so I am only including lipsticks that are available in stores and online at the moment.

There's no specific order to this list.

MAC's Cyber

I have had a crazy obsession with MAC's Cyber lipstick since I found out about it in a makeup video, quite a long time ago, so I decided that I would have to include this gorgeousness in this wishlist.

Cyber is a deep, dark, reddened purple, as described by MAC.
Since it is a satin finish lipstick, the pigmentation seems to be a little on the sheer side, which is, is my opinion, unfortunate since the color is so beautiful.

OCC's Technopagan

This is not a lipstick! But I had to include it in here.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics came up with this genius idea of making a lip product with loads of pigmentation and you don't even have to use a lot of product!

Technopagan is a metallic tip tar from the Unknown Pleasures collection, their fall/winter 2014 collection.
Technopagan in a blackened purple with blue pearl, as described by OCC. This lip tar attracts me so much for it's beauty on the lips. It comes out as a very dark metallic blue that has a purple base.

OCC's Black Metal Dahlia

Black Metal Dahlia is a blackened burgundy with red pearl, as described by OCC. This lip tar is in their permanent collection of lip tars and is a metallic version of the original Black Dahlia lip tar. It is so beautiful! It shows off on the lips as a rich metallic deep red color.

LimeCrime's Serpentina

Serpentina is a metallic, iridescent green with a snake-like sheen, as described by LimeCrime.
This is, unfortunately, a limited edition lipstick. I've been dying for this lipstick since I saw it in their last collection. It's a true metallic emerald green.

LimeCrime's Poisonberry

Poisonberry is a bright berry-purple with a snake-like sheen, as described by LimeCrime.
This one is, again, a limited edition lipstick from the same collection as the lipstick above.
I've been in the purple mood lately and this is metallic!!!

As you can see, most of the lipsticks in my wishlist are rather dark or bold colored.
The last four lipsticks remind me of jewels since they are metallic and have amazing color payoff. They just look so precious and beautiful!

OOTD

I thought of adding an outfit of the day to this post just because I thought it would be too short only with the wishlist.
This is just a little "sample" of my "fashion".

This is the outfit of friday actually. It wasn't the best, to be quite honest. I just threw on a pencil skirt, an oversized top and a jacket and I was ready to go.
Since I wear mostly black, textures and fabrics are really important to make things a bit more versatile, so here I decided to pair a black satin pencil skirt with a loose cotton top. I also decided to wear fishnets under regular black tights, just to mute it out a bit.

Oversized top: H&M
Skirt: Zara
Jacket: Stradivarius
Shoes: Seaside
Skeleton hand ring: Unkind
Labradorite ring: Medieval fair
Necklace: Swanheart
Sun glasses: Bijou Brigitte

I hope you have enjoyed this week's post.
Love,
Anna

Tarja Turunen Inspired Look

Today's my day to post a look. The title is pretty self-explainatory but for those who don't know who Tarja Turunen, she's a Finnish singer. Tarja was initially noticed as the lead singer of the symphonic power metal band Nightwish, which she left in 2005; then she pursued a sucessful solo career. This specific look is inspired by Nightwish's video clip for their song "Bless The Child". When I can't decide what to do with my makeup, it's very common for me to do this.

What I love the most about this look is it's simplicity. It is actually pretty quick. It takes three eyeshadows, all purple, but in different tones to achieve it. Placing the medium purple on my crease first, it helps to set ground for the following shadows which are lavender on the lid and a slightly darker purple than the first one to further deepen the crease and make the contrast between lid and crease, bolder.
The liner is just a medium line on the upper lash line and on the water line. I used black gel liner for both and smudge the lower lash line with a bit of the darkest purple eyeshadow.
Then, I used Essence's I Love Extreme volume mascara, my personal favorite.

For the lips I used KIKO's Smart Lip Liner in the shade 710 Rouge Noir with a matte brown lipstick on top. Unfortunately, none of the photos captured the actual darkness of the lips. In the second set of pictures, in which, I removed all forms of light filters, even the eye look is washed out.

Lip liner (left) & Lipstick (right)

For the rest of my face I did what I usually do.
Of course, in the video,  Tarja's eyes look darker and her lipstick is almost black but I guess it's because the lighting in both situations is really different.

I hope you liked this post. Hopefully, I'll post more looks in the future!

Tânia

Autumn Vampire

Hi! I'm back and this time with another look!
I intended to do a fall look but turns out i got carried away and what turned out was something more vampy'ish than I was initially expecting.
I had a lot of fun doing this look and shooting the photos for this look, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I chose these reddish colors because, to me, they resemble fall and all the leaves that we see on the street.
Another major inspiration for this look was the gorgeous dress Manuela Kraller used in the video Xandria made for the song Valentine.
This look is what most people would call a "party look" since it's a wearable look for most people on a daily basis.
I used a mixture of matte, satin and shimmery eyeshadows to achieve this cat eye look.

I placed a brick red in the center of the lid and brought it a bit in to the inside of the eye but not completely till the inner corner.
MNY eyeshadow by Maybelline in 333
After placing that red color, i used a gel eyeliner to add that darkness and then blended it out and into the red with some black eyeshadow. In the innermost part of the eye I used an old pink satin eyeshadow that gives me loads of shine and brightness, which is what I was going for with this look.
I also brought the black eyeshadow in almost till the brow, as you can see in these photos. By doing this, I gave my eyes even more of a "cat eye" shape.

On the lower lid I used regular black gel eyeliner to give me the darkness I was going for.
On the inner corner I used a very fine brush and gel eyeliner to create a small triangle that further elongated the eye and the cat eye shape. This technique is also used in Arab style makeup.

To achieve that sharp line with the gel eyeliner, I used a piece o duct tape to give me a clean sharp line.

A cat eye wouldn't be complete without false lashes. I used the biggest false lashes that I own that emphasize the cat eye shape the most. You would want to choose falsies that are longer on the outer corner than on the inner corner, again, to elongate the eye.

With a coral blush I brought some life to my complexion as well as with a cold toned bronzer.
The cold toned bronzer can also be used to shape the face.

For the lips I used a red lipstick in the same shade as the eyeshadow and I darkened it a little with a black lipstick. In the center of the lips I used that same eyeshadow to give the lips more of dimension.

When it comes to eyebrows, I just followed my natural brow shape, just as I do every single day.

I hope you have enjoyed this look, I had so much fun creating it!
For my next post I will be doing a lipstick wishlist with all the lip products I have been craving.
Love,
Anna

Top 3 Instagram Make Up Inspiration & Wishlist #1

Hey lovelies! Even though I was planning on posting a make up look today, like Anna did on her last post, school (which started on Monday) didn't allow me much time to do so. Yet, hopefully my next post will be something better!
This post will be a double post. The first part about the three Instagram accounts that inspire me the most in terms of make up and the second a accessories and fashion wishlist. I hope you enjoy it!

TOP THREE INSTAGRAM MAKE UP INSPIRATION
X†iNA (depechegurl): I don't even know where to start. Firstly, I wish I had half of her skills. Secondly, her make up looks always strike me as some of the loveliest I've seen. I'm not afraid to wear crazy colors in crazy ways on my face so she's totally one of my main inspirations!

Ashley (hollywoodnoir): I draw lots of inspiration from vintage and gothicly inclided fashion & beauty and Ashley seems to be the epitome of exactly that.  She also has a blog and a YouTube account.

Joana Baldaia Moreira (thrvsangel): Joana is my spirit animal. She's super lovely and whenever I see a picture of someone with 60s looking makeup I always end up thinking of her and her Edie Sedgwick look. Her Instagram account is private but I definitely had to include her in this short list.

WISHLIST
Wishlist #2

1. I have a thing for pointy witch-like shoes, so the first thing on my wishlist is a pair of winklepickers with multiple buckles. 2. I have tons of chokers but I still don't own an O-ring and that's something I plan to change soon. 3. You know the girl that is so afraid of the sun that sunscreen is an essencial even during Winter? Yup, that's me. I've seen lots of hats like this one in many stores but they're all really expensive. I'm still waiting for the right time to buy one. 4. I own quite a few music/film/series related t-shirts but I always want some more. 5. My biker style (clearly, faux) leather jacket is pretty much dying. I've had it for sometime now and it need to retire. 6. Finally; I've always wanted a Wednesday Addams kind of dress but most that I've found in stores were really unflattering on me, so the never ending search for one continues.

I have to apologize about the short lenght of this post, but I promise the next ones will be much better. Originally I was going to include five Instagram accounts but I wasn't able to make myself chose two more when these three are the main inspiration. You can also check my account or Anna's; thanks in advance on the behalf of both of us.

LOTS OF LOVE,
Tânia

Back To School Makeup: My tips and tricks

Since school is almost starting/has already started, I figured I would do a makeup look for you showing two looks suitable for school.

Look I

For this first look, I decided to go light and fresh.
The key to looking awake and fresh is highlighting. In this look I used a shimmery champagne eye shadow all over the lid to bring some light to the eyes and also used an eye shadow a couple of shades lighter than my skin on the inner corners of my eyes to give me that "wide awake" look. By adding slightly darker shadows to the outer corners of the eyes, you give your face some shape, avoiding the "flat board" look.
I also used a brown gel pencil close to my upper and lower lash line, but only on the outer thirds of the eyes, smudging it into the other shadows.

With such a simple look in the eyes, you can use all sorts of lip products that you want, in any shade that you prefer. For this look, I chose an orange lip gloss by Catrice called Peach Boy. This is a fairly pigmented lip gloss, so I didn't use any lip liner or lipstick underneath.

If you use foundation everyday, make sure you contour your face and use some bronzer and blush to bring some life and color to your face.

Look II

I am very fond of this second look. It's the one I use almost every single day for school or when I'm in a rush.
The eye makeup is a "bolder" version of the one from the first look. The only thing I added was a cold brown matte eye shadow in the crease and some gel eyeliner, creating a wing. Something to help you look awake with a look similar to this is using a white/beige eyeliner pencil in the waterline.

This is, again, a neutral look, so you can choose any lip products you want to go with this look. I used a mix of brown, nude and red lipsticks to create this gorgeous old pink nude'ish color. The Lydia lip pencil by OCC is a darker version of this mixture I made and that was my initial inspiration.

I also like to have a strong full brow, so I just use either an eyebrow pencil or a matte eye shadow to fill them in just a tad and eyebrow gel to keep them in place all day long.

When it comes to lashes, I personally love when they have volume and length so I use a mascara that gives me both. You just have to search for what you like to see on yourself.

Some other tips and trick:

  • To make your eye makeup stay put all day, you can use a primer. There's a lot of eye primers available nowadays but one of the most famous ones is Urban Decay's Primer Potion, but you can just as well use a cream eye shadow or a creamy eye pencil like NYX Jumbo Pencils.

  • Since you're wearing makeup all day long, if you do use foundation and want it to stick with you for the whole day, you should use a primer as well. There are loads of facial primers out there but the best trick is to apply your favorite moisturizing cream.

  • To keep the look through the whole day, you may want to choose a lip product that is easy to reapply and doesn't need too much maintenance throughout the day. That is why I chose a pigmented gloss and a nude lipstick, they're easy to reapply and you can just take it with you in your bag.

This is it for this post. I hope you have enjoyed the looks and my personal choices.
I wish all of you the best of lucks for this school year.

Love,
Anna

IKEA Mini-Haul

I'm not sure if I can call this post a haul, but a few days ago I picked up some new stuff for my room, and that's what this post will be about.

I was needing a new desk for quite sometime; the one I used to have was more than ten years old and it wasn't doing its job right since I started studying Visual Arts because it wasn't ample enough. And as you may know, IKEA is a huge store wherever it's located, so I had so many models to choose from but the HEMNES secretary caught my eye instantly because it was more compact than my (at the time) current desk and yet it would provide me so much more working space.

Besides the wonderful item I've mentioned, I also got two more things. On the first picture, besides my grumpy old self, you can see the most beautiful mirror I've set my eyes on so far. The UNG DRILL mirror was also available as a simple frame and believe me when I tell you that it took me forever to choose which I was going to bring home.
It's a shame that I don't have better pictures of the GNEDBY shelf unit to show you. It's the same color as the secretary and it's 202cm tall. (My height is 155cm so I do feel incredibly little next to it.) In it I have some of my paperbacks and CDs.

Sadly, I don't have a lot more to say but I hope you enjoyed this post!

Review: Catrice Get The Blues

Hey! For my first post I will do a review of a product that was given to me some time ago.
I'm going to review this nail polish only because I find this type of nail polishes extremely beautiful.

This is a multi-reflective nail polish. What a multi-reflective nail polish basically is is a metallic polish that has a base color and reflective particles that reflect two or three different color depending on the direction of the light that hits the nail.
This specific one has a grayish blue base and reflect blue, green and purple.

w/ artificial light w/ artificial light

Catrice is a german brand famous for its high quality cosmetic products for drugstore prices.
This nail polish has a very glossy and smooth finish, doesn't create those undesirable lines that some metallic polishes may leave and lasts for a long time.
In the back of the jar is written that it requires a base coat, preferably an opaque polish in the same color as its base color.
I only applied one coat of each. I used one layer of Anny 403 Blue Fashion Show as a base coat, which is a very pigmented grayish blue, and one layer of Catrice Get The Blues over.
Without a top coat, a high shine and gloss can be easily achieved.
This nail polish dries considerably fast. The price on this nail polish varies from 2€ to 3€, which is not expensive at all for 10ml of polish.

w/ natural light w/ natural light
The two other multi-reflective Catrice nail polishes that I have are Iron Mermaid and Genius In The Bottle.
Iron Mermaid is a silver based polish with green and lavender reflections.
Genius In The Bottle, dupe for Chanel's Peridot, is a gold based polish with golden and green reflections.
Of all the three, my favorite is Genius In The Bottle because it is much more pigmented and more reflective, but not as long lasting and doesn't dry as fast as Get The Blues. The same applies to Iron Mermaid, lasts less, takes longer to dry and isn't as pigmented as any of the others.
I hope you have enjoyed this quick review and I will be back in the end of this week with a makeup look.

Love,
Anna

Review: Swanheart Periculum earrings

For my first post on Flowers Of Doom I've chose to review a pair of earrings from Swanheart.  In this review I'll talk about as many aspects of the product and shop as I can. Hope you enjoy it!

Besides being the blog's first partner, Swanheart is a handmade jewelry and accessories online shop founded by my lovely co-blogger Anna. All the products are to die for and I wish I could buy them all, especially the chokers. Anna puts immense love in these objects and her skills and craftsmanship are admirable. She does custom jewelry and she's able to make most pairs of earrings in various formats, including ear stretchers.

From the first moment I saw the Perciulum earrings I really wanted them. They're simple earrings with large black roses and cross pendants. My body hasn't shown any allergic reaction to them which is great!
The price was €3,50 (plus shipping) and the packaging was absolutely adorable! It's a pity that I couldn't find it when I was preparing the post, but the earrings came in a slightly sheer black pouch with a tiny black ribbon, besides the pouch they were inside a small storage bag.
I've been wearing them quite a lot and people give me great compliments on them.

In the shop there's something for everyone! From deliciously dark to pretty soft heart melting pieces I assure you that Swanheart has something of your liking, keeping the elegance that Anna is known for.

Tânia

Meet The Flowers

Hailing from Portugal, these two girls were brought together by their passion for beauty and fashion, which culminated in this blog where they plan to share their tastes and thoughts, experiments and experiences with the readers. Following the footsteps of many bloggers before them, they'll present you with posts containing tips and tricks, reviews, make up looks of their creation and much more.
My name's TÂNIA (left) Cristina Almeida and I was born under the sign of Scorpio on November 4th 1997. I'm currently a high school senior in the area of Visual Arts. I was raised in a farm, with my paternal grandparents, surrounded by lots of animals. Even though I'm an absolute cat person, I have a dog.
I'm a lover of all things old and besides Art, History and Literature are my biggest interests. Most of my time is spent reading or listening to music, but I also watch some series and films. I'd describe myself as obsessive and highly self-critical. I'm the kind of gal that thinks that all glasses are half-empty even when they're full. My personality type is INFP.
My fashion and beauty choices are strongly influenced by the whole 20th century. My style is very personal but I guess it's housed under the goth umbrella. On the make up aisle I always tend to go for the strong vamp lips and dark yet neutral shadows.

Hey, I’m ANNA (right) Marques. I am a 17 year old science student that was born on April 3rd, therefore I’m an Aries.
I’m currently in senior year of high school and lord knows how much I regret not going to art school instead, and at the same time I don’t. The best of both worlds is what I wish I could have.
I spend most of my free time listening to music and playing around with makeup or drawing. I like to read as well and I am truly passionate about nature and all the wonders of the Earth. I love all sorts of minerals and gemstones. I have an enormous curiosity towards the human body. I’m a fish keeper and a huge cat lady.
I tend to see the dark side of everything. I would say that I don’t believe in “God” but I do believe that there is something above all humans, I just don’t quite know what it is.
Some of my fashion and beauty influences and inspirations are mostly Dita Von Teese and Adele. Amy Lee is a huge inspiration as well, on so many levels. I’m also extremely fond of the pin up style and the clothing from the victorian era and all sorts of gothic stuff.

With high hopes for the future, it's their desire that all find a place in this blog, in the dark chambers of their hearts.
